Our client is an international law firm with a strong global presence and a reputation for providing an excellent service to an impressive list of international clients.

Description:

  • In consultation with the Head of Business Development Middle East, support to develop the agreed strategy and business objectives for the practice
  • Working with the Head of Business Development Middle East and the Global marketing team, to support the delivery of the agreed marketing and business development strategy
  • Working closely with the Head of Business Development Middle East and Global Marketing team (this consists of a London central team, International/Regional marketing & BD and Industry Group BD teams), to ensure the practice is effectively integrated in international cross-practice business development, communications and Development Client activities
  • Understand and research the practice to be able to support the Head of Business Development Middle East in business development opportunities, including researching client and target activity as well as trends in specific market segments, and harnessing cross-selling opportunities whenever appropriate.
  • Responsible for contributing to pitches, RFP/ITT and capability documents which respond to specific client/target requests and position as the go-to lawyers
  • Actively contribute to the practice’s participation in the firm’s Development Client program, including the continued development and implementation of those client accounts relevant to the practice
  • Working with the Global Marketing team (this consists of a London central team, International/Regional marketing & BD and Industry Group BD teams), support in the delivery for all marketing materials and activities in support of the business development program, including (but not limited to) brochures, client/market research, directory submissions, website content, client bulletins/briefings, social media, seminars, conferences, reporting/ROI
  • Seeks to understand the business and can consider the impact other BD/client activity taking place across the firm has on the practice and respond accordingly and vice versa
  • Ensures that the firm’s branding approach is implemented consistently and effectively, and that messaging reflects national, regional and international requirements as appropriate
  • Develops effective relationships with specialist in-house resources
  • Internal systems (such as Interaction and Vuture) are used to full effect
  • Understands the international legal sector in general and the firm’s competitive positioning in core sectors
  • Acts as a primary point of contact in the team for internal for the Business Development and Marketing team in the practice
  • Demonstrates harmonious working and sharing of new ideas / best practice with regional and global teams
  • Works collaboratively with the Global Marketing team to maintain and develop best practice processes and knowledge sharing, including support the reporting of business development activities and ROI
  • The role will be required to support ad hoc activities as directed

Criteria:

  • Degree level or equivalent industry experience
  • Proven ability of working across all levels of business, preferably within a multi-jurisdictional environment
  • Demonstrable experience of supporting and delivering successful business development and marketing communications activities
  • Strong delivery focus, with a track record of doing so to deadlines (goes over and above to deliver a deadline and/or help others get a job done)
  • Strong interpersonal skills including oral/written communications, influencing, diplomacy, flexibility, tenacity
  • Good personal brand based on strong relationships and quality work – attracts ‘repeat business’ from internal clients
  • Reads relevant media and keeps abreast of legal and market trends
  • Delivers work to a high standard with minimal supervision
  • An international mindset
  • Excellent project and time management skills – with ability to juggle competing priorities at the same time
  • Strong IT skills including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, InterAction (or similar CRM database)
  • Proactively seeks out technological advances/improvements
  • Must currently reside in the UAE
