Business Development Coordinator

Our client is seeking a Business Development Coordinator who already has 3 years of experience in marketing and business development within a law firm. Responsibilities are diverse in this role and range from scheduling/planning for the Business Development team and related administrative support, to event planning and coordination, pitching support, drafting language for use in internal and external promotional materials, and working with the global Business Development, Marketing and Public Relations teams, as well as the lawyers, to enhance our clients external profile, to promote regional capabilities globally, and to win new business. Description:
- Lead in the development of pitch materials in response to client RFPs
- Maintain an experience database and actively collect and collate new experience examples to be uploaded to the database
- Maintain the library of practice descriptions, lawyer biographies and other elements used in pitches to ensure information is always kept up to date
- Work with lawyers and the Managers to create locally focused Business Development brochures and materials as required
- Assist with regional business development initiatives and other business development initiatives specific to the Middle East team
- Conduct research using our client’s intranet platforms and the internet.
- Input, evaluate, and analyze data using various platforms; leveraging ability to learn new platforms, as needed
- Research, investigate, and provide recommendations for resolving a wide variety of issues and inquiries from team members
- Assist the Managers in coordinating memberships in and the value associated with our client’s participation in various external organizations
- Work with the Managers to plan and deliver our clients attendance at externally sponsored events and conferences
- Assist in the end-to-end planning and management of events, including obtaining quotes from venues and conducting venue visits; Liaising with business development colleagues in the creative and database to manage the invitation process, from design to distribution; Assisting with the management and running of events as required; Work with the Managers to encourage active client follow-ups after events
- Work with digital marketing teams in the US to ensure that Middle East pages are kept up-to-date and any changes to these pages and lawyer profile pages are actioned in a timely manner
- Assist with the process of promoting thought leadership articles on the website and through social media
- Work with the Manager to promote the Middle East practice internally to the rest of the firm
- Assist with legal awards and directory submissions and other profile-raising activities
- Assist with setting up meetings and interviews with journalists
- Work with the Manager to develop the regular internal newsletter
Criteria:
- This position would be well suited to a marketer who already has 3 years of experience in marketing and business development within a law firm – law firm experience is essential
- Degree educated or holding a relevant marketing qualification would be an advantage but is not essential
- Technical skills (Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint.)
- Interpersonal skills
- Independent, self-starting, and self-motivated with strong teamwork skills
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Positive, professional attitude and able to remain calm under pressure
- Professional demeanor appropriate for an international law firm
- Exceptional written/verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and within a team environment are a must
- Arabic would be an advantage but is not essential
- Proven ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks and competing demands on stringent deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Proven ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Strong commitment to exceptional client service
- Ability to adapt to change and balance competing demands
- Resourceful with good problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, brief correspondence, and memos
- Experience with law firm management applications such as Chrome River, Kronos, Elite would be an advantage, however the successful candidate must have the ability to learn and adapt to new software applications and platforms quickly
- Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present routine information in one-on-one or small group situations
- Very occasional travel to our client’s Abu Dhabi office
- Ability to read and interpret general business documents, instructions, and manuals, write routine business correspondence, and speak effectively with employees, clients, and vendors
- Must currently reside in the UAE
