Logistics Manager

Our client is an international company who has recently established a base in Dubai. For this role you must have your own car as travel between Dubai and Abu Dhabi will be required. Description:
- Lead and coordinate export and logistics operations for approximately 30,000 MT of White Fused Alumina from the TAC plant in Abu Dhabi via Khalifa Port / Jebel Ali to key markets in Europe, the USA, and Latin America
- Ensure close coordination with the supplier / plant and TAC Logistics to align production planning, shipment scheduling, and smooth handover at FOB stage
- Coordinate vessel scheduling with shipping lines and freight forwarders, including vessel bookings, space allocation, and shipment execution
- Maintain direct operational coordination with Khalifa Port authorities, customs departments, inspection agencies, freight forwarders, and other relevant stakeholders
- Oversee customs clearance procedures, export declarations, and compliance with relevant UAE export and trade regulations
- Manage domestic transportation from plant to port, including truck allocation and scheduling, where applicable
- Negotiate and secure regional and international freight contracts with shipping lines, carriers, and logistics providers
- Manage and optimize freight costs through contract negotiations, carrier management, and continuous freight market monitoring
- Monitor shipment execution to prevent delays, congestion, demurrage, capacity constraints, or other operational disruptions
- Supervise the accuracy and completeness of shipping and export documentation, including BL, COO, invoices, packing lists, and other relevant documents
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement corrective measures to ensure shipment continuity
- Develop contingency and risk mitigation plans for disruptions such as port delays, regulatory changes, market capacity shortages, alternative routing needs, or broader supply chain disruptions
- Handle claims management and damage handling processes, including coordination with carriers, insurers, and relevant stakeholders in case of cargo damage, loss, or discrepancies
- Coordinate closely with Sales and Finance to align logistics execution with commercial commitments, customer requirements, and financial implications
- Maintain close internal coordination with colleagues in Germany, ensuring alignment on logistics planning, reporting, and operational requirements
Criteria:
- Strong hands-on operational experience within the UAE logistics environment
- Direct experience coordinating with local ports (particularly Khalifa Port) and UAE customs authorities
- Solid knowledge of UAE customs regulations, export compliance, and local operational procedures
- Experience working closely with production plants and understanding production line processes and dispatch planning
- Demonstrated exposure to regional and international freight negotiations (containerized and bulk shipments)
- Established network with freight forwarders, customs brokers, transport providers, and port operators in Abu Dhabi
- Deep understanding of Incoterms (FCA, FOB, CFR, CIF) and export documentation workflows
- Ability to operate independently while maintaining strict compliance standards
- Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or related field
- Minimum 58 years of operational logistics experience with minerals and/or chemicals in the UAE
- Proven experience handling high-volume industrial exports (20,000+ MT annually preferred)
- Prior experience in minerals, refractory, or industrial raw material exports would be an advantage
- Experience within the industry of raw materials such as minerals and/or chemicals
- Strong operational leadership and execution mindset
- High compliance awareness and regulatory discipline
- Advanced negotiation skills in freight and transport contracting
- Excellent problem-solving capability under operational pressure
- Cost control and efficiency-driven approach
- Strong coordination and communication skills across plant, port, and commercial teams
- Experience with White Fused Alumina or similar mineral-based products would be an advantage
- Flexible attitude, proactive and resourceful
- Knowledge of UAE Free Zone frameworks and corporate governance standards
- Familiarity with shipment tracking, and customs filing systems (Abu Dhabi Customs, TAMM (Abu Dhabi Unified Government Services) UAE Gateway / UAE Customs e-Services)
- Must have your own car
- Must currently reside in the UAE
